What Your Favorite Disney Movie Says About Your Dating Preferences

The Disney Dating Theory

January 12, 2009 by

Crystal Dennis

This is a theory that I have about dating. Everyone loves Disney, and has a favorite Disney movie. People usually date people that will put them in the same situation as there favorite Disney movie. I'll be explaining
how your favorite Disney movie is a good indicator of who you date, and whether that's good or bad. The movies I'll be analyzing are a few of the classics; Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Aladdin.

If you're favorite Disney movie is Sleeping Beauty, that means you want a guy that will rescue you. You want a Prince Phillip; a guy who'll fall in love with you, protect you and love you no matter what happens. The guy won't be co-dependant, and he'll be the provider in the family more than likely.

If your favorite movie is The Little Mermaid, you and your perfect man will hold equal parts in the relationship. Remember when Ariel saved Prince Eric in the beginning of the movie from the shipwreck? Then later in the movie, after Ariel was captured by Ursula the Sea Witch, Eric jumped on that little row boat and went down into the ocean to save Ariel from Ursula. Both of them were willing to protect and save each other, and in the end they lived happily ever after. This is the type of relationship a Little Mermaid fan would be looking for; one with equal sacrifice, and equal give and take. Both parties in the relationship care for one another's opinions, enjoy each other's company and don't belittle one another. In essence, it would be the perfect relationship.

Beauty and the Beast lovers are going to have a tough life. The Beast was horrible to Belle throughout the whole movie, even when he fell in love with her he sent her away. Throughout the entire movie Belle had to try and change him. She was constantly fighting to make him stop being the mean old hermit that got him into his predicament in the first place. In reality, this means that the person your with or are looking to be with will be set in there ways. The Belle's of the world are looking for a man to change into their handsome Prince Charming. These guys, or for the sake of this example, these Beasts, will promise you that they will change just to get with you. Then they won't change, you'll keep on trying to make them change, and you'll both be unhappy because he thinks your nagging, and you want him to stop being the way he is. Beauty and the Beast is a very toxic relationship.

Cinderella is one of the classics no doubt. But the Cinderella's of the world constantly want help, and won't try to do anything for themselves. Instead of getting out there and trying to find a guy they like, they'll want there Fairy Godmother's to do all of the work for them. Even after Cinderella got to the ball and the Prince fell in love with her she ran away. If not for the glass slipper, and the Prince's determination, Cinderella's happily ever after would have never been.

This is true in real life. Cinderella fans will constantly want there man, or potential man to do all of the work in the relationship. If something goes wrong in their relationship, the Cinderella's of the world will run back to their Fairy Godmother's for help. I don't think a Cinderella relationship is very healthy at all. It would be taxing on both parties, and would most likely end badly.

Aladdin has a pretty straight forward story line. Aladdin finds a genie, makes a wish to be a Prince for Princess Jasmine and goes to the palace to win her heart. Eventually, the truth comes out and Jasmine loves him anyway, but is upset that Aladdin lied to her. How does this translate to real life? The guy you would be looking for would be sweet, brave, kind and caring, but he would be hiding something from you. Whether it's something small, or something big, he wouldn't be able to trust you with things. He would always be hiding something from you, no matter how sweet he is. Is this good, or is this bad. I honestly think it's up to what you're willing to deal with. Who knows; he could be hiding things from you to protect you.

And that's my theory concerning your favorite Disney movie and your love life. Please remember that this is my opinion. You can either take this information to heart or not. I just wanted to get it out there for interested minds.
