As a musician and Disney fan, I'm constantly listening to the amazing sounds around me when I visit Disney World. Walking down Main Street USA, I sing along because the soundtrack alternates between "Oklahoma" and "The Music Man." I often wonder how the Frontierland cast members can stand it because their soundtrack is only a few songs. "Red River Valley" "Shenandoah" "Home on the Range" and one more......give me a few minutes and I'll remember....but you won't hear any songs but these! We all learned how to spell "M_I_C_K_E_Y" through a song! I enjoy riding through Spaceship Earth and listening to their sound choices, because you are being given an aural history lesson as well as a visual. And who can resist the background tropical music as you relax on the "beach" at the Polynesian?
But my favorite choices are very, very easy...
Runner-up:-Splash Mountain soundtrack. I have ridden that ride many, many times and will never tire of the optimistic music throughout the ride. It's a reminder that sometimes life brings us down, but we can always find our "laughing place."
Winner:-The Main Street Electrical Parade Song. I recently caught a webcast of a wedding at the Disney Chapel, and that was the bride's processional song!! I loved it!!
No song better represents my childhood than this one (except during my Barry Manilow phase of course). I had it on a record and used to listen to it over and over. I can still hum it. I was SO excited when they brought this parade back!!!! We visited the park in August and I can remember going into the Magic Kingdom late one night, hearing that music and hitting an all-out sprint to the parade.
Standing there, surrounded by the lights, the music and the crowd, I was 4 again and sitting on my dad's shoulders. My father took us to Disney every other year when we were kids (as soon as you can drink out of a straw!). We loved, laughed and learned from him there. My father passed away two years ago. I thought that going without him would be hard, but being there brought him back for awhile, and hearing that song reminds me of him. Therefore, it will always be my favorite.
